At 5 PM Mr Tomison & Thomas Embarked for York Factory in two Canoes. the Men Employed Building the Canoes - One Indian arrived brought Little or nothing."

May 13
" Monday Wind ESE light Breezes hazy weather rather cold. - Men Employed making & repairing the old Canoes - The Indian that came yesterday Traded in all no more than 31 Beaver."

May 14
" Tuesday fresh Gales Ely till noon with rain & continued overcast dull weather and cold for the season. could not work at making the Canoes by the Coldnefs of the Day. - Men Employed at Various Jobs. the aforementioned Indian & Family set off this Day."

May 15
" Wednesday AM Light Breezes Ely with Showers of rain PM fresh gales WNW pretty Hot. - Men Employed working at the Canoes."

" Thursday fresh Gales SW with flying Clouds & warm weather. - Men Employed as before. James Gaddy & 4 more making a more convenient track to the River Edge in order to avoid a steep Hill which was in the old track. 3 Men working at the Garden a short distance up the River."

" Friday Light Breezes WSW part clear part cloudy. - Men Employed getting the furs down to the river Edge as they will embark to morrow for manchester House. One Indian arrived brought 7 1/2 Beaver."

May 18
" Saturday Fresh Gales NNE AM Cloudy & warm PM Thunder & rain. - At 10 AM Mag. Annel & 3 Men embarked for manchester House in 2 Canoes. at 3 PM a few South'd Indians arrived brought very Little."

May 19
" Sunday Strong Gales W by N Cloudy cold weather with Showers of rain & Snow in the afternoon. could do nothing to the Canoes owing to the severity of the weather. at 8 PM three Men arrived from Manchester House with the remainder of the things Left there. three Men stops up here with James Gaddy Master."

July 18 1793
" Thursday Wind Wly a small Breeze with clear weather. At half past 3 PM embarked 7 Canoes for the upper Settlements also one for the Swan river. we paddled till 6 then put out the tracking lines & tracked till a half past 8 PM then put up at rainbow Island."

July 19
" Friday wind variable Light Breezes weather as yesterday. At 5 AM we embarked & tracked till half past 7 PM then put up 8 Miles below Steel river. at one PM pafsed by 2 tents of the factory Indians from which I had 24 lbs of very Poor Dried Meat & gave them a note to be paid at the factory."

July 20
" Saturday Wind variable Light Breezes weather part Cloudy & part Clear with Thunder & Lightning in the Evening. - At 4 AM we embarked & tracked till 7 PM then put up 15 Miles up the Steel River. the late rains has rais'd the water in this River far above what I have seen for several years Back."

July 21
" Sunday Wind Wly a small Breeze weather Cloudy with thunder at times. at 11 AM we embarked & tracked till 3 PM then entered Hill River where we tracked & handed till 6 PM then put up the water very shallow."

July 22
" Monday Wind Nly a fresh Breeze with clear weather. at 5 AM we embarked & tracked till 6 PM then Put up to Pitch our Canoes being much bruised by the Shoalnefs of the water."

July 23
" Tuesday Wind WSW a fresh Breeze weather part Cloudy & part clear with showers of rain at times. At 4 AM we embarked tracked till noon then carryed over the first Carrying place & Proceeded to the second. & at 4 PM put up to Pitch our Canoes & dry tracking Lines."

July 24
" Wednesday Wind as yesterday weather for the Most part Clear. at 4 AM we embarked Paddled Handed & Carryed till a half Past nine PM then put up."

July 25
" Thursday Wind Westerly a fresh Breeze weather Cloudy with rain at times. at 5 AM we embarked & Proceeded as before till 8 PM then put up. 6 Canoes did not come up."

July 26
" Friday Wind Nly a fresh Breeze with rain till 11 AM at noon the Canoes came up & we proceeded till 7 PM then Put up at the entrance of Pike River 6 Canoes Behind."

July 27
" Saturday Wind Wly a fresh Breeze with clear weather. At 4 AM we embarked Paddled Handed & Carryed till one PM then put up at the entrance of Knee Lake. at 4 PM those came up that was behind. several of them lame of cuts & Sprains."

July 28
" Sunday Wind SE a small breeze first part Clear Latter part Cloudy with rain in the Evening - At 4 AM we embarked Paddled & sail'd till 6 PM then Put up 10 Miles Short of the Trout fall."

July 29
" Monday Wind NNE a fresh gale weather Cloudy with rain all day. could not proceed."

July 30
" Tuesday Wind WSW a fresh breeze weather Cloudy with rain at times. - At 3 AM we embarked. at 4 Pafsed by 4 Canoes of bungees going to the factory they gave me 40 lbs of dried Meat & 14 lbs of Fat for which I gave them 1 1/2 Gallon of Brandy & 1 lbs of Tobacco. we Paddled Handed & Carryed till 4 PM then Put up at Pethe paw-wenepee Lake as it blowed fresh with much swell in the Lake."

July 31
" Wednesday Wind Sly a stiff Breeze with clear weather. At 10 AM we Embarked & Paddled till 4 PM then Obliged to Put ashore as the Wind & swell increas'd. I am apprehensive there will be a great Leakage in the Brandy this year all owing to the Bung holes being ill bored & bad Corks."

Aug. 1 1793
" Thursday Wind NNW a fresh Gale with clear Weather. - At 5 AM we embarked Paddled Handed & Carryed till a half past 8 PM then Put up on the Hill Carrying place. Alexander Corrigal cut the under part of his foot which will render him unable to go in the Water for some time."

Aug. 2
" Friday Wind as yesterday weather Cloudy with Showers of rain. - At 5 AM we embarked & Paddled till 11 then arrived at the White Mud Carrying place & at 2 PM got all over then put up it blowed too hard for Paddling gave the Men a quart of Brandy pr Mefs."

Aug. 3
" Saturday Wind NW a small breeze with clear Weather. - At half past 3 AM we Embarked & Paddled till 8 PM then Put up at the Hare Lake. Saw one tent of Indians from which I had 30 lbs of dried Poor Meat."

Aug. 4
" Sunday Wind SSW a fresh gale with clear weather. - At 4 AM we embarked & Paddled till 4 PM then put up as it blowed too hard to paddle against Wind & Current."

Aug. 5
" Monday Wind Sly a fresh gale weather as yesterday. at half past 3 AM we embarked & paddled till 11 then Obliged to put ashore. here we came up with the Indian that went from the Factory 5 Days before us. at 8 PM put off again & at 10 Obliged to Put up as it blowed hard & very dark."

Aug. 6
" Tuesday Wind & Weather much the same. At 4 AM we Embarked & paddled till 7 then obliged to put up as the Wind & swell increased."

Aug. 7
" Wednesday Wind Variable from NW to SE light Breezes with Clear weather - At 3 AM we embarked & Padled till 8 PM then put up where we left the furs on our Journey down. At 10 Met 3 Canoes on their Journey from Cumberland House 30 Miles from where the furs was disposited going down."

Aug. 8
" Thursday Wind SE a Strong Gale with clear weather. obliged to Move the goods twice from the water this Day."

Aug. 9
" Friday Wind Variable from SW to W & blowed fresh with Showers of rain & Thunder - The Men Pitching & watering three Canoes ready for taking in the furs. at 6 PM the Wind favoured Laughton Taylor, Malc. Grot & myself with 6 Others embarked at 6 PM in three Canoes with 41 Bundles of furs to Meet those who are to return with them to the Factory. we Paddled all night."

" Saturday Wind NE a fresh Breeze weather cloudy with rain. at noon we arrived at the Rendizvou Lake where we Put ashore for the rain. At 3 PM Mefs Bird, Isham & James Flet Jun. arrived having left the others some distance off."

Paddled hard from a 1/2 past 3 PM yesterday without any stop. the Wind shifted in the Night & made a lee shore which induced Mr Bird & Ishams Canoes to put on shore 12 Miles from this but we being in want of Provisions & no tent induced us to push on till we got to the People where we had some difficulty in landing being a great surf on the shore. paid Indians for the flesh of two moose & they got drunk. - on the 10 Inst. according to Orders Gilbert Laughton & John Flet went a head to procure what Provisions they could before the Canadians came up. - I am ill off for want of Men to Conduct the Canoes up so that I shall be under the necefsity to take one of Mr Ishams men to put in the Bow & he has only been up the N.R. once."

Paid Mr Shaw 10 parchment beaver for the Hundred flints he supplied me with last autumn. its true he did not Wish to take anything for them but I did not think it necefsary to lay under any Obligation for so trifling a Matter."

These stole above 20 Horse from the French people last spring and eight from us, of which we got from them with much difficulty. at 1 PM we put off and padled till 5 and put up at the Crofsing place."

Alexander Johnson still very bad, he was twelve hours speechlefs, The Doctor bled him and gave him a Vomit but the latter had not the desired effect."
